I have recently had my computer overhauled and now I have problems getting
the desktop up whenever I turn it back on.

The opening screen used to be the Microsoft blue Welcome Screen with my
login icon and another for a guest. I would click on my logo and up would
come the desktop screen, with the background and all the icons.

Now all I get is a Microsoft blue screen saying Welcome - and no login
icons. If I Ctrl/Alt/Delete a few times it usually brings up the background
screen for the desktop and then, if a Ctrl/Alt/Delete a few more times, the
desktop logos come up.

One other thing which may or may not be connected. AFter about 10 minutes,
the acreen goes blank and doesn't move however much I click my mouse or the
keyboed. However, the light in the middle of the on-off button is blinking
(that's a new one on me) and if I push the on-off button quickly, the
computer fires up again. This time it goes to the usual opening screen of the
Microsoft blue Welcome with my login icon (but not one for a guest).

Any thoughts, anyone?

thanx in advance

check your virtual memory. if its set to none, then this could hamper your
system. And if you can get the task manager, run: explorer.exe

What does that mean? Who did it? What did he do? Why did you have him do it?

If you had service done to the computer, and it now doesn't work correctly,
you should take it back to whoever did the work, and demand that he fix
whatever he did wrong.
