when we start up in the morning, we get MANY duplicate
icons on the desktop - all numbered - as many as 50 of
one item. It doesn't seem to affect anything else -
mostly a nuisance - unless there is an underlying problem
I don't see. Any suggestions?

If you delete the duplicates, do they reappear the next time you boot
the pc?

The reader should exercise normal caution and backup the Registry and
data files regularly, and especially before making any changes to their
PC, as well as performing regular virus and spyware scans. I am not
liable for problems or mishaps that occur from the reader using advice

Yes - but a real pain to repeat over and over and over
and over.... any idea WHY this is happening? I've run
spybot detectors and virus scans with no results...

thanks for the reply! Yes - over and over and over - I
delete them every time. We have scanned for viruses and
restarted a number of times after 'cleaning up' - we have
an adaware program and 'search and destroy' - also tried
defraging - any idea WHY this is happening? Microsoft
had no answers except 'post your question' - and the only
other thing we have come up with is the DOS exploit
having to do with microsoft explorer...

I'd post your question rather than wasting people's time with hypothetical discussions.
