Desktop background sizing problem

I have not had any problems using pictures as my desktop background until a
couple of weeks ago when we had to troubleshoot to get my laptop to project a
slideshow. I had someone else doing the technical help, and he doesn't know
how he actually got it to work, but now my display properties are out of
whack. I've tried re-setting the resolution, but that does not help.

The problem is that when I put a picture on the desktop it's just a little
stretched (like the monitor is actually just a little bigger than the
desktop). But when I try to change the display to center instead of stretch,
it doesn't center the whole picture, it just zooms in on the center of the
picture. I can't tile correctly either. I tried to center one of the
default backgrounds and it worked correctly, so I really have no idea what to
do. The one pic I actually got to work I had to frame in a photo editor and
just keep messing with the framing until the center would show what I wanted.

Thanks for reading a long message - any advice or ideas would be greatly
appreciated.

Hi manders_e

If you're only seeing part of the picture when you select Center, it
sounds like the picture might be bigger than the screen. Maybe your
friend altered your screen resolution when he tinkered and got the
slideshow to work? Check the picture(s) in a graphics editing program --
you might need to resize them to match the resolution you're using.
