When I recently upgraded to Windows XP, I lost my desktop
appearance background that I had loved for years with
Windows 98 plus. It is the scene of a mountain lion
surveying his or her territory. I found it very calming
to see it when I would bring up my system each day. The
scene that I have now with XP is one of an open meadow
and the blue sky above it. It's a great scene, but, I
long to see "my" regal mountain lion again. Does anyone
know whether there's any way to import this scene into my
XP system and if so, where I would go to find it? It
would really make me happy to get it back again.

Gratefully yours, Duane.

Duane,
If you have the picture of the lions on another computer or whatever,
copy it to a floppy or otherwise move it to your new XP and store it in
a folder where you won't delete it. Open the picture in IE and RIGHT
click on it and select SET AS BACKGROUND and voila, you are done..

If you prefer the look of Win 98 ( I do), go to the Performance icon in
CONTROL PANEL and set the BEST PERFORMANCE option.. then do a search for
your 'lion pic' and set it as desktop wallpaper..

Hi Mike, I can't find a performance icon in control
panel. Is there any other label for it?

Duane

Right click on My Computer
Select Properties
Select Advanced
Then select 'adjust for best performance'
- this will get rid of a lot of animation, shadowing etc.

You can also got to Control Panel - Taskbar - then 'Start Menu'
Select 'Classic Start Menu' - then 'apply'

HTH

Cheers
Steve

-If you mean you have made an upgrade (not a clean install) by installing XP
on top of windows 98 on the same machine, then that means the lion picture
is still on your computer at the location c:\program files\plus!\themes open
that image ...if you double click it it will open with windows fax and image
viewer, by right clicking on the image you can select "set as desktop
background". There is no reason for you to switch to windows classic view as
suggested by other posters.

-If you have windows 98 on another computer go to the same folder
(c:\program files\plus!\themes) and copy the image on to a floppy disk and
move it to the new computer.
....if you double click it it will open with windows fax and image viewer, by
right clicking on the image you can select "set as desktop background".

-If you dont have lost all the files of win98 tell us and we will find the
lion image for you and post it here.

Someone else upgraded my computer to XP from 98 for me. I
think he completely removed Windows 98 at that time. I
just now tried to locate the plus file in C drive
programs and it is not there. Could you help find the
lion picture and post it here for me?

Thanks
