I have a desktop with about 12 icons on it. At random times, as far as I can
tell, it moves two shortcuts from right bottom to left center. In desktop
properties I only have checked show icons, nothing else checked.
Virus checks run and that would be a stupid virus anyway. So what might
cause this?

Right-click on the desktop and select 'Arrange icons By".
