Desktop alerts for Generic Mail Boxes

Hi,

Is there anybody in the world who knows as to how to create desk top alets
for generic mail boxes? I have been trying to find a solution for more than a
year, but all in vain. Can someone help me?

What exactly do you mean by "generic" mailboxes?
