Desktop Alert Problem

My Outlook 2007 used to show the first 2 lines of the email in a desktop
alert. However, after it crashed, the desktop alert stopped showing the first
2 lines of the email. I've played around with the rules(since I use IMAP).
The funny thing is that when I ran the rule, it showed a preview of the
email. When mail actually come in, it does not.

Anyone have a solution for this? Thanks.
