Does anybody know of an easy way to display an alert when email is delivered
to a mailbox that I have open in outlook as an additional mailbox?

I am running Outlook 2003 SP3

I know that Outlook itself can't do it
Nobody knows of a free third party app that will do it?

There are a number of apps that can ping a mailbox using the POP3 protocol
but I'm not aware of anything specifically for outlook that can ping a
secondary mailbox.

Basically I want it to notify me if an email is delivered to an account that
I have open as an additional mailbox. It's not POP3.
How exactly does one "ping" a mailbox?

I found one piece of software that will do it called Mail Alert by Bettasoft.
It can provide an alert for any folder. Pity Outlook can't
