My desk top short cuts are now all highlighted . How do I get rid of the highlighted shortcuts. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

You posted this about an hour and 20 minutes ago. You should keep posts in
the same thread. If you can't find a previous post search for it using
Google Groups Advanced Search, and post to it. This newsgroup is
microsoft.public.windowsxp.general. Search in that for your name as author.

If you mean shadow behind name, try Control Panel . Display > Appearance tab
..Effects button (l-r). In next box, uncheck "Show shadows under menus".
Just remember that background has to be dark enough to read title of the
shortcut.
