In an effort to enlarge desktop icons I change the appearance of Vista to
similar to old Window format. How do I change it back.

Control Panel > Appearance and Personalisation > Change theme.

Enlarge desktop icons by right-clicking the desktop > View > Select desired
size, or just hold down Ctrl and use the mouse scroll button.
