I was wondering what the desirable picture resolution is to ensure that the
images are displayed clearly on the screen. Low resolution pics appear
blurred or distortioned.

I quess you mean JPEG or JPG still picture..I use a 1600 x 1200..or a 1024 x
768...for DVD-movies on the TV...I use 640 x 480 as a EMAIL attachment..I
render in at mpeg-2 from a DV-avi File for the TV..and use a WMV(NTFS)Large
Frame for Email..DVD uses about 50-minutes of movie time...email changes from
1-MB to 10MB to 20MB's..which equals about 14-seconds to about 2-1/2 Minutes..
WMV has a slight BLUR that DV-avi or MPEG-2 does not.
