It used to be possible to force IE to open from a shortcut when IE isn't the
default browser; how can this be done in XP Pro, please?

Chatter:
Sorry MS, but I don't like IE7 and I'm a strong fan of tabs in my browser so
my default is Firefox. IE7 requires me to load the software verification
program and I will not do that because I resent MS spying on what I run. I
have paid licenses for every program I own (I happen to have 5 Linux, 4 XP
Pro, and 1 NT4 machines in my house) and every program is legal. Is this
Micros#%t's try at becoming Skynet from the Terminator series?

Hello,

If you want to create a shortcut to some website which would open in IE7 and not in your default
browser, you can try the following. Create a new shortcut with the following command line:

iexplore.exe www.microsoft.com

When you double click on the shortcut, IE7 will open and go straight to microsoft.com . Ofcourse you
can put the website of your choice instead of microsoft.com .

Thanks, Anando, but when I hit "Apply" XP Pro puts http:// in front of
explorer.exe and that doesn't work. I also tried the file:///... with the
whole path to IE and it still crashes. By the way, Firefox still opens up
with the first config.

No, you dont want to make a internet shortcut....you just want to make a general shortcut to the
application with the additional command line.
