I design my webpage then view it in preview and its all skillawonkee. Why? Is
it because I used Autoshapes? Then when I "save" it skillawonks what I just
repaired!

It's probably best not to use auto-shapes and definally not absolute
positioning.

Thanks for your suggetion but I'm desperate for designs I must use
autoshapes. I found that if I design the element in word, group it toghether
then past it into Front page I have no problem. Now if I can just figure out
how to make my webpage start on my home page.

Create your design using auto shapes.
Take a screen shot of the page and then use Paint to cut out the image and save it as an image file.
Then use the image on your page.

To make your web site start on your home page, makes sure the local copy is named index.htm and then
publish.

Depending on your host (you can ask them) your home page will be one of: index.htm, index.html, default.htm, default.html

Avoid using autoshapes draw feature, and wordart as they rely on vml which only viewers with IE will be able to see. You can convert them to jpg or gifs by taking a screen shot and pasting the image into Paint (at the very least if you don't have a real image editor).

Thanks to all of you for your comments. You have been so helpful. I should
probably invest in a good image editor program if any of you have suggestions
for a good one in the interim I'll have to rely on Word and clip art. Can I
take a screen shot from Word? I know I'm naive I am the technical
writer/human resources manager/marketing manager and now the new website
manager...small company.

You can take a screen shot of anything that is showing on the screen, but you will most certainly need to crop it...paste image into Paint for now..it comes with Windows.

There are several inexpensive image editors out there..E.T. has a list somewhere...there are even some free ones that are pretty good too.
