Hey

Windows XP Professional!

I'm playing around with different deployment scenarios of window xp. for the
purpose of learning different deployment methods. ( Is there an
certification exam on Windows deployment?)

I've created an unattended installtion which I have slipstreamed (added SP2
to the instaltion files) , on a CDR

Now I want to extend this. When the installation of windows is finished I
then want RunOnceEx to start and install apps I would like to have on the
computer...

The trick is that I want the install files for these extra applications to
be stored on a network share. (I can add the comp to the Active Directory,
so the installation files can be on a AD share). The reason I want these
files on a network share is that I then easly can change those files.

For example: I like using TextPad to work on txt files. When I create this
installation process, version 5.02 of TextPad exists. A few months later
version 5.1 exists. Then I just had to copy new installtion files to the
network share and replace the old installation files for TextPad. So next
time I deploy windows the newer version of TextPad is installed.

The scenario above is when insllation of Windows is done from a CD, but
maybe instead I should make a network installtion. Lets say I have on the
installtions on a network share. then I easily can modify the RunOnceEx.cmd
file etc....

Questions:

#1
Can RunOnceEx install apps which it's install files are located on a network
share?

#2
If possible I would like RunOnceEx to display a message saying for example
"TextPad 5.1" during installtion, when vesion 5.1 is installed.. instead of
saying "TextPad 5.02".. but for this to be possible I have to store the
RunOnceEx.cmd on the network share too... So I can modify it's descritions
etc... Is it possible to have RunOnceEx.cmd on a network share?

#3
Any other thoughts regarding this is welcome too, maybe there are something
I've overlooked here..
