Hello group,

In this article:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/emb.../deployrun.asp

Jon mentioned : "There are Microsoft and third-party tools to help you
preserve LFN's when copying using operating systems that don't support
them"
Witch Microsoft tool is this?

Regards,

Pieter

Pieter,

Some of the tools are combined:

WinPE with an SDI file
SDI2HD with an SDI file.
Remote Recover from Winternals (www.winternals.com)

BTW - You might want to consider taking a class on XPe. It might save you
time in the long run. My company offers the Microsoft Official curriculum
and an Advanced class. Together, both courses get you up and running with a
good understanding of XPe tools and features.

Back in the Win9x days, there was a tool on ms.com that preserved LFN's
so you could use 16-bit DOS tools to copy files without losing the long
file names. You can still get it at
http://www.microsoft.com/windows95/d...intools/s_wuma
nagementtools/w95longfile/default.asp.

If you search shareware sites for "long file name" (which is what I
searched MSDN to get the URL above), you should find other tools as
well.
