How do i go about creating a gpo to push office as well as the update for
office. I setup a gpo to deploy office but not with updates. Also what is
the difference between published or assigned.

Look at the following link for admin install point:

Then look at the deploy info (in the readme) for the office service pack you
want to deploy & do an admin install - this updates the admin point to
deploy a pre-patched version.

Your GPO for the deployment will still work but will now install the patched
version.

Assigned = installed to user or pc
Published = listed on add/remove programs for the user to select from for
installation
