Am getting a DEP window popping up saying it has shut down the windows
program WMI.

I'm also getting a running out of disc space message as well. The hard drive
is 40% used so that is not the problem. This occurs when starting to use
explorer, similar to sonypcuser's problem.

I have scanned the whole pc and external drives with virus and pest
detection software (both upto date) and had clean scans. I also run firewall
software so nothing should have got in.

The Windows XP Pro is fully up to date.

The problem is not causing any issues as yet but may be pointing to hidden
nasties ready to create hassles.

Very Sorry, I didn't do a search before lodging this topic.

I have now removed OMCI off my PC. Lets see how that works.

Strange it should emerge now after using the PC for a year or more without
hassles.

It's also a Dell.

Could there be an issue in the latest Windows updates that caused this?
