I have a failing Windows 2000 DC in a remote site that I want to demote via
telnet (Terminal Services isn't functioning on this machine). Anyone know
how to do this?

You could install a VNC server on it (http://www.realvnc.com/), remotely
connect to the server's GUI, and then run dcpromo.

HTH,

Download psexec to your client PC and use it to connect to a cmd session on
the DC to run dcpromo. This doesn't require any software installed on the
remote server.

That indirectly lead me to the answer I was looking for. I can get a telnet
session going but when you suggested this tool, I'm like "okay, but that's
just another command line." I didn't even think about running dcpromo using
an answer file. So now I've got it figured out. Thanks.
