Dell Latitude L400 - Unexpected Power Off

I've been chasing a problem with Win-XP and my Dell
Latitude L400 laptop. Every so often, the system will
power down hard unexpectedly.

No blue screen.
No event log.
No error message.

Just a black screen and the system is down hard. Windows
XP doesn't even seem to know that it has happened when I
try to reboot (no event log message, no "Last Good" boot
menu or equivalent)

Dell claims it is not their hardware. I can't make the
problem happen in Win-2K, but it happens consistently in
XP. I'm fully up to date on updates to XP, and using the
most current drivers for all hardware.

Has anyone seen anything like this? Any ideas at all?
It's driving me nuts.

Thanks,

Scott
