Dell many times talked the talk, but never walked the walk.
I will believe it, when I see it.

In the mean time....looking at that "supplier" lineup, it sure looks like Dell
has outsourced all forms of peecee platform design, development and
production...

None of this is anything more than idle speculation. Those manufacturers
all have relationships with Dell, but they also have relationships with
other OEMs too.

.... and this comes as a surprise? Dell has long been a big believer
in outsourcing significant parts of their business, despite what they
occasionally say in the media.

FWIW they're hardly alone. There are VERY few companies left that
actually build PCs, most of the major OEMs have outsourced production
to a handful of Chinese and/or Taiwanese companies. Hon Hai (aka
Foxconn), Quanta and Arima are three of the biggest ones (the latter
two focusing more on notebooks).

Maybe I was maintaining some shred of denial...but I honestly thought Dell
actually had some lab coats still on staff to *design* the product.

I was under no such illusions about product delivery, however, as even niche
tech companies such as the one I work for off-shored or out-sourced production
many years ago...

All or some? Most companies of appreciable size out-source some. But
many, like mine, still do the newer, higher-margin stuff here...

All, in our case. And apparently Dell's as well...
