When I attach a data projector to my new Dell D420, all works fine, except
when I put Powerpoint into slideshow mode, it goes berzerk--locks up and
beeps repeatedly. It requires a hard restart to get out of it. My company
has bought 3 of these, and it's the same problem on all of them, even with
different data projectors. What can I do? I need to make presentations.

Something vaguely similar came up a few days ago. The fix was to set the PC's
video resolution to 1024x768 (on both monitors if you're sending the external
monitor separately to the projector).

Have you contacted the projector manufacturer? I would imagine they've seen
this before.
