Provided this is a desktop PC, you need to purchase a PCI firewire card (aka
IEEE1394) and it will simply fit in a PCI slot on your motherboard (usually
colored white). Restarting the PC after the hardware installation and XP
will detect the new card and automatically install the drivers.

It's INSIDE the tower.

You might want to take the tower unit to somewhere like Best Buy, Frys
Electronics or CompUSA when you buy the firewire card, and pay them to do
the installation for you.

Or if you have a friend who can give you a hand with the installation.
Not a difficult job at all and if you look in the Dell manual that
came with you pc it will tell you exactly how to do it.
Good luck,
