NOT a computer problem, believe it or not!

Mom just got a Dell computer, including a 924 printer. Prints fine
right out of the box.

But, put a document on the glass, the window says "Ready to copy," so I
push the green arrow button. Window says "copying" for a LONG time,
finally spits out a blank sheet without even moving the printheads!
Still says "copying" for quite a while afterwards....

I'm ashamed to say, I actually had to read the manual!! Didn't help a
bit, tho'....

So, this thing is messed up somehow, right? All suggestions
appreciated! (Short of throwing the thing out!)

Thanks, all!

Might be too obvious, but would it happen to have a lock on the Scan
Transport Mechanism.

Couldn't find anything obvious, the whole scanner is enclosed......

Heh, not too impressed with Dell tech support yet!! They suggest:

1. Clean the nozzles.
2. Re-install the drivers.
3. Check ink levels.
4. Wick the cartridge.
5. Clean the contacts.

I told them it prints FINE, just won't make copies!! We'll see what
they come up with next!!

egads.....

Well, spent ~45 minutes on the phone, but they finally sent a
replacement!

I just said "Yeah, that's done" repeatedly while she told me to
re-install the drivers, etc. I'd say she was in India, I'd try not to
blame her, it's not her fault.....

Replacement worked fine, now trying to get an air bill to send the old
one back.
