So on the right hand side of me monitor about three inches in I have a thin green stripe running from top to bottom of me screen.

What is causing this ??

Have reinstalled graphics drivers --- no change.

This shows up all the time. However I have done screen shots and this does not show up in the captured picture.

Is it me graphics card or a fault on me monitor ?

Does it happen from the moment you turn the PC on, i.e. even in the BIOS? If so it could be either (graphics card or monitor) - I'd try plugging it into another PC to be sure.

If it is the monitor, it should be under warranty (as I think it will be a 3 year one)

Sounds like a defect in the monitor to me.

I'd suspect the monitor. Check your warranty.

Well I finally phoned PC Buyit the site I bought me monitor from. They answered the phone straight away, guess I was lucky there. A very nice chap answered. Gave me all the info I needed and reasured me that the monitor was covered by the 4 year next day on site warranty. Told me that it was a fault that occoured infrequently and that most likely that I would get a replacement monitor probably with a newer model. I was very impressed with the phone conversation.
Am now going to ring the Dell number and see if their service is as good.

Finnaly got around to phoneing Dell today I was waiting untill I had a full free day for delivery which will be Monday. I must say I am impressed. Spent 4 mins on the phone and they are sending me a new monitor on Monday. Don't know if I will get an upgrade as it all depends if they have my monitor in the warehouse. So I'm keeping me fingers crossed.
Well done to Dell.

If it happens when the new one turns up check your speakers. I had a faulty set of speakers which caused a similar problem on my screen
