delivery point barcode in merge to labels from Outlook 2003 contacts

Does anybody know how to include a delivery point barcode on labels
generated from a mail merge initiated in Oultook 2003?

It's very simple to do this if you originate the merge from Word (there's an
icon for it in the wizard), but I prefer to initiate my merges from Outlook.
I typically contact people by phone and then generate a label to them if
they express interest in my services. I can easily send labels to a filtered
group or to selected contacts straight out of Outlook. It's much more
cumbersome to have to go into Word and look up the contacts again in order
to create/edit a recipient list. The only problem is that I'm not seeing a
way to insert a delivery point barcode when I initiate the merge from
Outlook.

I used to be able to do this from Outlook 2000.

The answer may be here:

http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/wo...CH061047251033

I don't know how/where I would insert the code though. Seems like it should
be part of the wizard like it is in Word, but I'm open to suggestions.

Thanks,
John Nasta

Please don't multipost.

Do you mean cross-posting (i.e. to more than one group)?

This is not quite the same subject as earlier. I know how to accomplish the
merge now. Just missing one little item...

No, crossposting is fine (i.e., posting the exact same message to multiple
newsgroups simultaneously). Posting the exact same message individually to
more than one newsgroup is multiposting. IN the former case, newsreaders
will realize that it's the same message and when it's marked as read in one
group, it's marked as read in all groups so that the reader sees it only
once. Multiposting forces people to read it every group.

Ok, thanks. I didn't know that.

John

p.s. Now I'm trying to find a way to filter date from the "memo" (for lack
of a better name) field in Outlook so that I can do my merges from Word.
Doesn't seem like anyone knows how to add the barcode from Outlook, or that
this was overlooked for some reason in this version.

Just for the heck of it I will try to copy & paste the barcode field from
one document to the other and see what that does.

I'm starting to think that the answer is to create a merge document in word
with the barcode and address block fields and save it, then when I do my my
merge from Outlook, choose an "existing document" rather than creating a new
document.

Sounds good right?

Tomorrow...
