Deletion Format Problem

Hi. I have Word 2003 and have recently experienced a change in some setting
on Word. The problem is that I cannot select and delete text by using the
delete/backspace key at the top right of the main section of the keyboard. It
makes me use the delete key to the right of the main section.

I could get by with this, except that I also cannot replace text by
selecting and typing. It used to delete the selected text, but now it just
places the new text at the beginning of the selection. For someone who uses
Word as much as I do, this is very irritating and a big waste of time.

It's not on the computer itself, as I can do all of the desired operation on
other things like Excel, Powerpoint, or this text box.

Has anyone else ever had this problem or know of a way to correct it? Thanks!

Jake

Hi Jake,

Go into Tools|Options|Edit and check the 'typing replaces selection' option.

Cheers

Tools, Options, on the Edit tab make sure Typing Replaces Selection is
checked.
