I don't have genuine xp pro on my laptop. I have purchased xp home and would
like to uninstall the pro and replace with home version. By doing so, will I
have a validated genuine product?....the home version has everything I need
to do so.

You will have to reformat the hard drive since this is not an upgrade.
In doing this, you will lose all of your personal data and programs, plus hardware driver software.
Be sure you back up all of your personal data and go to the laptop manufacturer and get the hardware
drivers before you start.
After you install the new Windows on your hard drive, you can validate it and you will be okay.
