I looked at FAQ and opened C:\Windows - folder marked 'Windows". There are
over 200 folders all say $NtUninstall; some have 'spunist' all are microsoft
corp and about 100 are KB...notepad (all contain lines about fail or 'not
exist' 'not correct' all start with a KB number aand log details. Others
are BMP pictures (eg: River Sumida, Santa Fe Stucco, Zapotec).
My question is can I delete all the above from the Windows folder.
There are other folders that seem to contain relevant information which I
would not delete. Advice please.

Try using the disk cleanup tool. Its in the accessories under system tools.

These putatively are information files used by Windows to
UNINSTALL applications and operating system components that
have been installed.
I suggest leaving these alone (do not delete) on the
off-chance you may, at some further day, may wish to
uninstall (or even modify) applications or parts of the
operating system. These take up a relatively small amount of
space and could make the difference between run and no-run
for your computer. Relax and ignore.

That folder is the OS core data,do not delete any except the
zapotec,stucco,etc
files, those are desktop images. If temp files are what you'd like to clean-up,
then go to run, type: %Temp% In new window, edit, select all, delete all.
