hello community

can someone please assist me in solving this problem...

I entered a name in a "Field Name Col" and same time entered the ID number
into the "Field ID Col" and saved the database.

Upon re-opening the database, and making a query by using the name that I
had previously entered, the result was not found then when I entered the ID
number of that belongs to the "unfound" name, the query was displayed.

I then found out that the name that I used was "wrong" and I did a change in
the "Field Name" but when do a "save", it prompted me..."duplicated
data......not able to be save"

now, I am unable to do anything to this Name that I had entered wrongly. Is
there a way where I can delete this row and recreate the data entry but I
still need the row serial numbers to be in same running order

(from what I see, the Name and ID field lists are set to have Primary Key)

can anybody please clarify for me

Access does not have row numbers.

I suggest you may not want to use Autonumber for that use. Autonumbers
are designed to provide unique numbers. It in not designed to provide
numbers in order and for a number of reasons may not do so. As a result
using them in any application where the user sees the numbers is likely to
end up with confusion.

There are other ways of providing the numbers you want depending on the
particual application.

As it is you are going to need to jump through quite a few hoops to get
what you want and it is going to happen again and again.

If you want to change the entry in the Name field, simply type over it. It
sounds like you are trying to enter a new record with the same ID number and
the corrected name. If the record is already there, change it, don't add a
new one.
