Deleting the root '.' zone

I have a Win2000 server running a small network. I need to set up DNS
forwarding for Internet access. The selection is grayed out, as it states
it's a root server. I've seen other threads that mention deleting the root
"." zone and then forwarding will be allowed.

When I go to do that, I get a warning message:

'This is an AD integrated zone. If you decide to delete this zone from the
DNS server, it also will be deleted from AD. .....'

Is it OK to do this? This server is stand-alone and not part of any other AD.

thanks

Hello JeffB,

Yes, you can do it.
