I deleted a significant number of files on my c drive, but when I look at
the "used vs. free space" by right-clicking on the drive icon in My Computer
Properties, the free size number does not change. I have deleted the files
in my Recycle Bin.

Any suggestions on why the 'available space' numbers are not changing?

Thanks.
