Deleting items in public folder with thousands of items "impossible" ??

Hi group!

On our EXCH 5.5 we have two public folders with ContactItems (Companies -
2500 items and Contacts - 5500 items). Each Contact have a Company in its
Links Collection. All items has a custom messageclass, custom fields, custom
controls, graphics and VB script in them.

The items is created from an Excel workbook using VBA, OOM and CDO.

Now we want to get rid of the two folders, but Outlook refuses (maybe its a
memory problem). Deleting one item takes as much as 40 secs. Saving a
modified item takes 40 secs. Saving a new items takes 1 sec. We've concluded
that the use of the Activity Tab isn't good for performance so we've removed
all Activity settings for the two folders.

Furthermore I've deleted all custom views, form definitions, folder fields
etc. No offline sync either.

Any suggestions - its driving me crazy ;-)

Thanx in advance

Jesper

If you want to get rid of the folders why not delete them from the
server using the EX admin program?

We've tried that too - no luck there either. We've also tried a VB program
using CDO without success.

Could it be a temp replica folder problem?
