Using Fdisk, I created a system partion and another
partion for later use (now "unallocated"), and wound up
with 9GB of "free" space as well! (My mistake.) It's not
clear what "free space" consists of. I then loaded W2K.
Now, using Disk Manager and right clicking on various
spaces, it seems I can further "create partion" in the
case of the "unallocated" space, but can only "create
logical drive" in the case of the "free space;" although I
DO have the option of "delete partion" in the case of
the "free" space. (There seems to be a contradiction here,
as its not clear whether "free space" is actually a
partition of any kind at all.) Can I safely delete the
free space, such that it will then become "unallocated,"
or will I simply wind up with a larger system partion (C
and one small, already "unallocated" partition? My plan
(hope) is that, after deleting the free space, I will wind
up with one larger "unallocated" partition, which I can
then further partition.

Sorry for misspells. Thanks. I just went ahead and got the
answer, which is the one I expected, though I wasn't sure
and posted here. It would have been nice had MS help
screens just explained it all a tiny bit.
