When I delete a file or files, no matter how large, Vista almost always hangs
up for a few seconds. The screen freezes and if I click the mouse the
hourglass appears for a few more seconds. If I click again a time or two the
file will suddenly disappear and be in the recycle bin.
Why is it that something that is so automatic in every other OS is so
difficult in Vista?

Have you applied the latest performance and reliability update for Windows
Vista?

No, I haven't. I was hoping maybe i could just change my configurations. And
frankly, I'm a little afraid to install this update and risk having it screw
something else up. Vista has such an amateurish feel to it that I think I'd
rather wait till they come out with a complete service pack, as I'm hoping
that will have been thoroughly tested (unlike the original release).
