I found extend.dat in the My Documents folder.
Can I delete this without causing any problems?

Yes. That's not the folder location outlook stores the one it uses and even
if it was, if outlook needs it, it'll make a new one.

I deleted two extend.dat files and my mousepad and mouse quit working. I
restored the files and had to restart the laptop three times before the mouse
begin to work again. Have you ever heard of this happening. Using Windows
XP and outlook 2003.

Who know, since that's not the extend.dat that Outlook uses. The only
extend.dat Outlook uses is in %UserProfile%\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook on 2000/XP and in
%LocalAppData%\Microsoft\Outlook on Vista

I don't believe extend.dat had anything to do with it.
