Hi. I'm trying to remove a microsoft exchange account and leave myself with
normal email accounts. However, despite creating a new location for the
emails, any I create remain in the old location's outbox and don't get sent.
Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Control Panel->Mail Icon->Accounts->View or Change. Delete the Exchange account.

This presumes you are using Outlook 2003/2007, which you decided was not important to include in your post. YMMV.
