Deleting emails Outlook 2007 + Vista

I am a new kid on the block (Outlook 2007 and Vista Business).
In outlook, in the inbox, I cannot delete an email by highlightling the
email and pressing the DELETE key on the keyboard. Also, I cannot open an
email and delete it by hitting the X (for delete) while in the email message
itself. Using the EDIT toolbar function and the selecting DELETE will
delete the highlighted email message. Also, highlightling the email and
clicking the X (for delete) will delete the email.
What do I need to change to get the first two methods to work?
Configuration? Fixes?

Email account works fine in win 2000 + outlook 2000 and in win xp + outlook
2003 and in win xp and outlook 2007, but does not work properly in Win Vista
Business + Outlook 2007.
I have not completed the HELP - OFFICE DIAGNOSTICS yet. I need to open up
the system more for that to run (trust sites and downloads). I believe the
system (WIn Vista and Outlook 2007) is up-to-date on updates from Microsoft -
I will double chekc this also.
Would Outlook 2007 removal and re-install help?

Uninstall does not usually fix things that office diagnostics (or detect and
repair in old versions) can't also fix - it just takes longer. I'm pretty
sure office diagnostics will fix this.
