Deleting calendar items -- but archiving them?

I'd like to keep calendar items as a kind of moving record of where I've been
and what I've done, but they keep showing up as reminders if I don't delete
them.

Is there some alternative way to move them into an archive so they don't
keep popping up as long-irrelevant reminders but are still stored somewhere
convenient so that I can remember what I did (or tried to do) a year ago on a
specific day?

(Excuse me if this is something obvious I should have already known. . . . )

I don't see why they would keep coming up as reminders. If you hit the
dismiss button when the reminders appear, do they come back at a later time?
You should be able to hit dismiss and have the reminders stop, but have the
appointments remain in your calendar as long as you want. Remember that
hitting the X in the corner of a reminder is not the same as hitting
dismiss.

Click Help and enter "AutoArchive" in the search box.

Hmmm -- that's why I posted on "new users" -- at least, I think that's where
this is. I haven't been "dismiss"ing them at all. . . . Sounds as if that
does what I want.
