I was having some trouble after an update of the Toshiba Wireless 350
BT module drivers, so I uninstalled it and deleted all the associated
devices and COM ports, including hidden ones.

I also deleted a hidden driver with an exclamation mark called
something like "Microsoft Bluetooth Interface" (can't remember the
exact name) from the Non-Plug and Play Drivers section, before
thinking that maybe non-plug and play drivers are not automatically
reinstalled by the system.

Now the bluetooth module is gone, dead, invisible to Windows! The
manufacturer's drivers will install, but cannot communicate with it
(they say "Bluetooth is not ready").

Can I recover/reinstall that hidden driver? No System Restore
available, unfortunately (system restore is for dummies, y'know...).

Lurka, you may be able to find them on the Software CD that came with the
Laptop. And,
if you have the WinXP CD you can try going to Start>Run type: sfc
/scannow click
Ok. Have the CD in the cdrom and this runs a System File Check and will
repair/Replace
any corrupt or missing system files.

I retried with a full installation of the BT drivers and it came back
to life.
That hidden driver wasn't really needed, and in fact may have been the
cause of previous trouble.

The TosOBEX.exe process was stuck in a loop and consuming CPU cycles,
a problem that someone on Toshiba forums has clearly described to
happen when TosOBEX is unable to create the virtual COM ports required
for bluetooth services.

Now everything is running smoothly.
