deleting all references to a printer

Having problem printing transparent pics/bckgrds from MS publisher. It use
to work alright. Print view looks alright, I have it set up for the printer
to show a print preview when it goes to print.
If something is set for a set transparency then it shows/prints a cross
hatch pattern (kind of) I am thinking when I uninstall my epson c82 that it
is leaving something behind? and when I reinstall it that it does not
overwrite something?
It use to work fine, prints fine except for transparencies.
