I had a workstation go bad on my small win2k server network running win2k
workstations. I want to name the new computer with the same name but the
server says its a duplicate and I have to name it something else. How do I
delete all the information the server has on this workstation so I can name
the new workstation anything I want to.

Hello tuuf,

The server is a domain controller? Open ADUC and delete the workstation there.
Additional check DNS server, that the record is deleted and also the DHCP
server.
