Deleted Registry Items During Virus Cleanup

Good Afternoon,

After Christmas Day kids on my exposed system, I had a few Spyware and Adware virus threats on the system to deal with this morning. After trying to delete many different items in the registry as per Symantec's instructions for the type of virus threats involved, it seems that I do not have the ability to use my search function in the programs area. I fear that I have deleted something in the registry in error that cannot be recovered. I also fear that there may be other files that we deleted by mistake.

The question is "How do I check to see what else may be missing from my XP Professional System? and How can I fix that damage that has been done? (possible re-installing of Windows XP Pro?)"

Please help me.

Thanks,

Rob
