It appears that you are mixing up disk space and memory. They are two
very different things, and memory is RAM, not disk space. You can't
"clean" memory, and if you "defragmented and cleaned and removed
spyware," that applies to disk space, not memory.

If you are talking about disk space, not memory, please clarify that,
and tell us exactly how big your drive is, and how much of it is free.

And if you are getting a "memory low" message, note that it doesn't
pertain to the available disk space. Please provide the exact verbatim
text of the message you get.

I was able to get to 4% free space after deleting several more files and
programs...this is what it has on (c) has only 4% free space available for
use by disk defragmenter requires at least 15% useable free space, not
enough free space to properly complete operation.

If you are looking for help, please answer the questions I asked:

"tell us exactly how big your drive is, and how much of it is free."

"Please provide the exact verbatim text of the message you get."

Ken, Hard Drive space used to be referred to as "Secondary Memory", and RAM
as "Primary Memory".
A lot of people still refer to it as just plain memory, because of that
leftover.
And it is hard to tell whether they made a mistake, or not, without asking
them,

Deleting "files" from with Windows does not free up disk space at
first. If you delete these from within Windows Explorer, they are
first moved to Recycle Bin so that you can have a "chance" to recover
them. If you want to completely clear them out, Empty Recycle Bin.

==================================================================

Sounds like you need a new [bigger] hard drive. Take it to your local
computer shop and get them to clone your current hard drive to a bigger one.
You can then do your defrag without issues. Don't start deleting your files
willy nilly if you are not sure on what you need to delete to gain hard
drive space, you'll run out again soon enough.

Oh, by the way, while your down at the local computer shop, get them to
increase your RAM to 1GB. Your computer will love it and you'll enjoy the
additional responsiveness too.
