Hi,
Having a problem with Group Policies on W2K domain with XP Clients.
We previously had two servers running with a redirection on users "My
Documents" folders so that all data was redirected to server SERVER1,
directory USERS. This worked a treat, however, when we came to
decommission SERVER1 we changed the default path in the Group Policy
to redirect to Server SERVER2, directory USERS and copied the data
across manually. In the main, this worked until SERVER1 was
decommissioned - (ran DCPROMO and everything went sweet in the usual
manner.)
Now we are running with only SERVER2 and the network is crawling at a
snails pace.
I have run gpupdate and gpresult /v on a client machine to find that
I'm apparently using a Group Policy that doesn't exist. gpresult tells
me that the policy was applied from SERVER2 10 minutes ago and is
called "itpolicy". This policy was deleted and I can find no occurence
of it on SERVER2 whatsoever. Furthermore, the policy indicates a
redirection to the original folder on SERVER1 who is now dead!
Something else that seems strange is the fact that the policy has
detected a slow link, although I am connected directly into the same
ethernet switch as the server. I have run up another W2K server, set
up a dummy AD and Group Policy, joined that domain with the same
client machine on the same networking kit and everything works sweet
(no slow link, redirect works etc)
Can anyone please shed some light on how I can have a policy enforced
that is no longer in existence?? Furthermore, if I add a new policy
the settings do not take affect...
Many thanks...
