"Deleted" my printer, how do I get it back?

I, uh, accidentally deleted my printer from 'My Computer'. How do I get it
back to where I can see it listed with "Files Stored," "Hard Disk...,"
"Devices"...and such? The printer IS installed for use, but I did some
"right click thing" and it took the printer from the listing. Not that it
matters but it's a Networked Device so I believe it was under that heading.
D'oh!

There has to be an easier way to have my computer put it back on 'My
Computer'. I mean, it is already installed correctly. I kind of had a tough
time installing it in the first place, since it was a networked device, so
unless I really have to reinstall, I'd rather not. But if I have to...

What "P.A.Bear" means by "reinstall it" is not form the printer's
installation disk, but through the "Add printer" item in the "Printers"
folder.

After you click on this item, a Wizard starts.

Choose the option "Local printers attached to this computer" and
checkmark "Automatically detect and install my Plug and Play printer" on
the first page of the 'Wizard'.

Because Windows has already gone through the printer's setup
[installation disk] program, it should be listed after you press [next].

Just highlight your printer and click on [finish].

The OP stated the printer is / was a networked printer. PnP does not
detect networked printers. The quickest ways would be:

Manually add the printer via Add/Remove Printers

Add/Remove Program ---> Select Printer software and if the software
has "Repair" option, repair.

If the above does not work for you, uninstall from Add/Remove the
printer software and the reinstall.

Hello,

You can try restoring your system to an earlier point of time. See
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/306084 - How to restore Windows XP to a
previous state

If it doesn't work out after restore, you can always 'undo' the restore as
outlined in the article. Note that when you restore, any configuration
changes made to the system from that point you restored to will be lost.
This includes newly installed programs and configurations.

Try...
Maybe...
Will be lost...
If that doesn't work...

Unfortunatley, there is no magic wand to wave to undo this unfortunate
incident.

If you deleted it from your Windows configuration, add it back.

Yes it does, or, more accurately, if will find all printers on the network
and make them available to the workstation. Just follow the wizard and pick
"A network printer, [sic] or a printer attached to another computer."

Okay, obviously I'm just not getting this. I did what you said, but I don't
think that's the problem. It's not about adding the printer, as I can access
it. All is well there and it's humming along. I have the printer plugged
into my router so my computers can access it through that networked
connection. On my Laptop the printer is listed under the heading "Network
Drives" when I click into the 'My Computer' icon. I accidentally deleted
that heading on my Desktop by doing the right-click thing. The printer is
still listed and defaulted under 'Printers and Faxes,' but not listed when I
click into 'My Computer.' I still have access to the printer from the
desktop but it's just not listed. So how do I get it listed again?
