Who said you cannot delete the administer in XP Pro. When I purchased my
computer from Sony, I never set up an administrator just myself (fortunately
I had attempted to create a remote user a while ago with limited access and
only this user account allowes me to log on). While in Computer Management I
deleted my user name (don't ask me why) which I guess was the only user that
had administrator privleges. After numerous attempts to fix this fopa and
since I could not log on as admin, I found purchased a program which allows
me to reset (clear) the Administrator password. At the Welcome Window I hit
Ctl-Alt-Del but when I hit enter with no passoword in the field, it still
won't let me in.

I've tried to find a way to restore to the time before I deleted my User
Account but haven't found a way without the Admin privilages.

Any ideas out there

You cannot delete the built-in Administrator account. Your user account
was not the built-in Administrator account. You are doing something
wrong and you had no need to purchase anything to get into the system.

The normal way to deal with this situation is to either do Ctrl-Alt-Del
at the Welcome Screen to get the classic logon box. Then type
"Administrator" (not your user account name and without the quotes) and
whatever password you set for the built-in Administrator account. If you
didn't set a password, then leave it blank.

If that doesn't work, this is a free program that will indeed reset the
Administrator (or any other user) password to a blank:

You need to create a bootable cd with this (or bootable floppy) and then
boot with the media you created. Then just follow the instructions.

If this doesn't work for you or is not easy for you to understand (and
that's OK), then take your machine to a professional computer repair
shop and they will be able to get into your machine. This will not be
your local version of BigStoreUSA.

I have a PC that will not let me change the IP settings in XPPro as I do not
have sufficient rights. I am using the built in admin account in safe mode
with networking. several virus, spy and malware sweeps show nothing, it's a
PITA.

what changed between the time things worked and the time they didn't?
Even though you say you scanned with antivirus/antispyware programs,

be worth going through them.
