Deleted Items Search Process

My question involves the method in which Outlook searches through the deleted
items folder, and if there happens to be any way to change some processes.

It currently searches from the oldest items/emails first, and then follows
chronologically up to the most recent. In my opinion, this is an incredibly
arcane way to search, and would much prefer it to start with the most recent.
I am wondering if there is any way to make/switch that to be the case?

Thank you for your help-

Correct, it is '07, sorry for the lack of detail there. I don't believe I'm
using Windows Desktop Search at all.

Does instant search work? If so, then it is installed. If search is slow
then it’s the old outlook search engine - that searches in a weird order.

If you have WDS installed outlook uses it and it should find new stuff
first - its much faster than the old search engine.
