I cannot permanently delete most of the items in my Deleted file. I found
that other folks have had the same problembut can find no solution- see
below. How do I get HELP?

Posted by Nicholas R. ChavezSunday, November 23, 2008 5:52 PMI have 259
deleted message and cannot empty them, I keep getting an error message: The
message interface has returned an unknown error, If the problem persists,
restart Outlook. I restarted it numerous times and I still can't delete the
messages. Also I have two messages stuck in the Outbox, I have followed the
instructions and worked offline, but it still doesn't work. Help Please

delete anything but the most recent files from the deleted items folder

Posted by onyebuchiiFriday, December 12, 2008 10:57 AMI have configured for
an outlook 2003 user the automatically empty the Deleted Items folder on
closing outlook. Some friendly days it works but other days it does not work.

Try running the Inbox Repair Tool (scanpst.exe) against your *.PST file(s)
to rule out any corruption. (Note: You have to close Outlook 2007 and then
use scanpst. Once done, then start Outlook 2007 and try deleting/emptying
the deleted items folder.)

Thank you , this sounds like it might help. I reinstalled Office and did a
Repair but that did not correct the problem, it must be a PST file
corruption. How do I find the Inbox Repair Tool? Jeanne
