Deleted Items - automatically mark as read?

Hi there.

I want to let messages unread that I keep (so I leave any
"automatically mark message as read" option off)... yet I'd like to
delete messages from my Inbox and have them get marked as "read" in
the Deleted Items folder.

Any add-in's that would handle this?

Alex

One approach would be to move them to the Deleted Items folder, right-click
the Deleted Items folder, and choose Mark All as Read.

You're correct. I just wanted to have that process happen
automatically rather than having to do it 100 times a day.

Any other ideas?

Alex

Do you really care if your trash is read before you empty it at the end of
your Outlook session? You DO empty your deleted items daily, right?

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. All
unsolicited mail sent to my personal account will be deleted without
reading.

After furious head scratching, Alex Calder asked:

Yes, not only do I daily auto-archive, but every couple of months, I
changed the default auto-archive *filename* to keep my archive files
from growing too large.

Which leads me another question...

I've been looking for an app (and not having any luck finding one)
that will let me do searches for Outlook items, not only in my
currently-open items, but through pst files on the hard drive as well
(since I have different archive files for two month spans)...

Anybody know of a good one? (Or one at all?)

As for the earlier thread, yeah, I hate deleting items from my Inbox
only to have my Deleted Items folder showing in bold with an unread
item count next to it. If I'm deleting something, I want Outlook to
mark it unread because, if I deleted it without reading it, I don't
care about it anyway. Of course, that needs to be user selectable, as
some people might accidentally delete something and want to be aware
that it was unread by seeing it show up somewhere else.

Thanks all. Searching, searching...

Alex

Another question...

I have all my fonts (messaage format > font) set to Arial... and new
messages and replies work fine. But when I receive a Plain Text
message, hit reply, then hit CONVERT TO HTML, the font comes up in
Times New Roman instead of Arial.

How to fix?

Alex

Don't - it is rude to override the sender's preferred mail format, plus the
sender could be using Outlook 97 or another mail client that doesn't render
HTML. Always respect the sender's preferences.
