Is there any way to delete messages automatically after a certian number of
days? I want to remove anything over a week old in my deleted item folder
and have this done automatically.

As VistaRookie said, you can have WM auto-empty the Deleted Items
folder each time you exit, but I didn't think that would meet your requirements.
I need stuff to 'simmer' in Deleted Items for a few days before I decide there is
no future need for it.

How could this be a problem?
Just a right click and selecting "Delete" from the context menu.
Not difficult at all, IMHO.
